Understanding Gradebook Icons: Status

When you view your grades, you may notice different colored icons next to each activity. These icons show the current status of your attempt. Here's what each one means:

  • Completed and passed

— Your attempt has been submitted and you've achieved the passing criteria defined for this activity.

  • Completed and not passed

— Your attempt has been submitted but you didn't meet the passing qualifications (See special note below).

  • In progress

— Your attempt has been started but hasn't yet been submitted (If you did not have a submit button in the lesson, your instructor will submit the lesson on your behalf after the due date).

  • Progress not disclosed

— Feedback on this activity is currently restricted.

A Note About Attempt Status

If you don’t see a green “Completed and Passed” icon, don’t panic! This doesn’t always mean you did something wrong.

The status icons depend on activity settings defined by your instructor. In some cases, passing an activity requires that you’ve viewed and attempted every section of it.

Here’s where it gets a bit technical:
To make certain visible questions work properly, the platform’s creators had to include some "hidden" questions behind the scenes. These hidden questions aren't shown to you, and you’ll never be able to attempt them. However, the system still counts them as part of the activity when checking if you've viewed and attempted every section.

So, even if you did everything you were supposed to, the platform may not show a green icon because it thinks one of these hidden questions was skipped. If you're unsure or concerned, feel free to check with your instructor for clarification.
