This article explains when and how a lesson can be reset in the Science Interactive Lab Portal.
Whether you can reset a lesson depends on how the activity is configured by your instructor.
1. Check if a Reset Is Allowed
Some lessons allow multiple attempts.
If your instructor allows multiple attempts, navigate to the lesson and select Try Again to begin a new attempt.
If the lesson does not allow you to try again, you will need to request an exception from your instructor.
2. Request an Exception
If your attempt is restricted, the activity launch page will display an access message.
Select Request Exception at the bottom of the launch page.
The launch page may include the following indicators:
- An error icon identifying which access condition is preventing the attempt
- An error message explaining why the activity cannot be started
- A Request Exception button displayed in place of the Start button
After selecting Request Exception, you will be directed to the Proctor Authorization Request page.
Use this page to contact your instructor to request permission to start or reset the activity. Select Request Remote Authorization.
An Email will be sent to your instructor notifying them you have requested remote authorization.
NOTE: You may want to follow up with your instructor after requesting remote authorization to ensure the saw the request and understand why you need an exception.
Once your instructor or proctor approves the request, you will be directed into the activity to begin a new attempt.
Granting an exception is at the discretion of your instructor or proctor.
Resetting a lesson may affect your grade, depending on how attempts are scored.
Requests for additional time on a timed activity must be made directly to your instructor or proctor.
