This article describes how to enter and navigate answers using the Equation Editor in the Science Interactive Lab Portal.
There are two ways to enter answers in the Equation Editor:
- By typing and using keyboard shortcuts, or
- By using the equation toolbar.
If the Equation Editor appears collapsed, select the sigma (Σ) button to expand the entry field.
- Click inside the Equation Editor entry field.
- Type your expression using your keyboard.
- Use keyboard shortcuts to format subscripts, superscripts, fractions, and symbols.
- If you want to view available keyboard shortcuts, select the Tooltips button.

- Click inside the Equation Editor entry field.
- Select a tool from the equation toolbar.
You can also use the toolbar to insert fractions, roots, symbols, and other mathematical structures.
Saving Your Answer
Your response is saved automatically as you type.
Once you finish entering your answer, you can move on to the next question.
